Keira Knightley has called herself “duplicitous and manipulative,” much like her character from her newest movie, ‘Anna Karenina’.
The 27-year-old British actress told Canadian FLARE magazine: “There are aspects of her [Anna] that I don’t like. Then you go, ‘Am I any better?’
“I am duplicitous and manipulative and all those things. Hopefully that doesn’t define me but they are parts of my personality.”
Keira also said that she is stubborn, but that this trait has helped her against “horrible” paparazzi that used to pester her for photographs while she was drunk.
“When I was young, I was hounded by these hideous men,” she said. “What they wanted was the picture of me falling out of the club. They weren’t going to get that out of me. No, I chose very, very deliberately not to, because I couldn’t bear the idea of giving in to them. It takes stubbornness.”
The US premiere of ‘Anna Karenina’ was forced to be delayed this week due to Hurricane Sandy.

Deadline is reporting that Keira is officially confirmed to play the female lead alongside Chris Pine in “Jack Ryan“.
Deadline can now confirm the cast for this long gestating, highly anticipated action thriller that will be the first of an anticipated franchise trilogy. It resurrects the popular Tom Clancy character of CIA analyst Jack Ryan last seen on film in 2002 and now played by Chris Pine in the role already made famous by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck. After various starts and stops, bad luck and good fortune, Deadline also has learned that Jack Ryan finally has come together for a release in the 4th quarter of 2013.
Paramount chose to wait for Pine to complete the second installment of Star Trek in this contemporized original prequel story that picks up Ryan before he joined the CIA. (Paramount long ago locked in Pine after he played Captain Kirk.) His love interest and the female lead is Keira Knightley. Paramount was intensely searching because it’s a high profile role — an older version of the character was played by Anne Archer in the Harrison Ford films — and involves options that would potentially put the actress in three pictures.

Emma Stone, Keira Knightley Wear Two of Summer’s Best Movie Premiere Dresses in Same Week
Knightley is no stranger to the world of franchises, having starred in the three of Disney’s four Pirates of the Caribbean films. The film would mark the first teaming for Knightley and director Kenneth Branagh, who also has a supporting role in the film. Although the two often inhabit the same world of Brit period corset dramas, they’ve never worked together. Branagh auditioned a number of women for the part two weeks ago — including Lost’s Evangeline Lilly and Like Crazy’s Felicity Jones — before re-engaging Knightley, who Paramount initially approached.
The story centers on ex-Marine and Moscow-based financial analyst Jack Ryan (Pine), who uncovers a plot by his employer to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the U.S. economy. Ryan must race against time to save America and his wife
The film is a prequel to Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series of books, which produced previous movies starring Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck. Adam Cozad and Anthony Peckham wrote the screenplay, while David Koepp penned the most recent draft.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing alongside Mace Neufeld and David Barron. David Ellison is exec producing the film, which is scheduled to begin shooting next month.
Knightley, whose recent credits include Seeking a Friend for the End of the World opposite Steve Carell, next will be seen in the period drama Anna Karenina.
She is repped by WME and United Agents.
